Gunmen kidnapped a father and his son in Kuchiko Relocation Development Area (KRDA), Bwari Local Council, Federal Capital Territory, in the early hours of Sunday.

According to Daily Trust, the gang which invaded the area in the middle of the night successfully overpowered security guards before proceeding to the victims’ house.

An attempt to abduct another resident was, however, resisted by soldiers from the Defence College, Bwari, whom the gang engaged in a gun battle.

There has been an upsurge in gunmen attacks and abductions in the FCT lately. Between March and April, several people were kidnapped in the Kuje Area Council of the city.

Abductors demanded N50million from relatives of Friday Adewole, who was kidnapped on the road around 9pm on April 1. Four other people were abducted from their homes in Kiyi, a small community in the outskirts of the city, on March 24.

Following Sunday’s attack, residents of Kuchiko called on the government to beef up security around the satellite areas of the city.
