26.05.2021 news BREAKING: Boat Conveying Over 100 Passengers Capsizes in Niger

About 140 passengers are missing and feared dead after a boat ferrying them sank in a river in Niger State on Wednesday afternoon.

The boat was conveying the passengers from Malale in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger to Waara in Kebbi State.

“A rescue operation is underway but only 22 survivors and one dead body have been recovered,” Abdullahi Buhari Wara, administrative head of Ngaski, district told Daily Trust.

“We are talking of around 140 passengers still missing.”

This is coming few weeks after 30 people died in a boat accident on River Zumba in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
