14.06.2021 news Ten Killed by Unknown Gunmen in Plateau While Drinking at a ‘Joint’

At least 10 people have been killed and five others injured in a fresh gunmen attack on Kushe Community, Kuru District of Jos, Plateau State.  

The yet-unidentified gunmen were said to have started shooting sporadically on entering the community at about 9pm on Sunday night.

Ubah Ogaba, the Plateau State Police spokesperson, told TheCable on Monday that some of the victims were shot in a drinking joint within the vicinity.

“The Plateau State Police Command received a report that 10 persons were shot dead in a drinking joint at Sabon Layi, Kuru in Jos South LGA by yet to be identified gunmen who drove in with a Hilux and shot sporadically,” he said.

“Personnel of the command and the military have been deployed in the affected area.

“The Commissioner of Police has ordered an immediate investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing and to bring the perpetrators of that dastardly act to book.”

The five people injured during the attack were said to have been receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

Attacks by armed groups have become more frequent in the Jos South LGA of Plateau State lately.  In May, seven persons, including children, were killed in an attack by gunmen in Dong Village, Jos South LGA.

In a similar gunmen attack, eight workers were killed at a mining site within the LGA in April.
