Elizabeth II, the Queen and Head of State of the United Kingdom, has died at 96.
Before announcing the Queen’s death on Thursday evening, Buckingham Palace had said that she was under medical supervision after she pulled out of a virtual privy council on Wednesday.

“Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision,” the palace had said.
As concerns grew over her health on Thursday, Prince Charles, her eldest son, William, Duke of Cambridge, and other members of her family travelled to Balmoral, where she was undergoing medical evaluation, to be with her.
Prince Charles immediately becomes King of the UK. It is yet to be announced when he will take the royal oath which will seal his ascension to the throne.
