Emmanuela Ogbeifo, an Ireland-based Nigerian, has been convicted by an Irish court for stealing €1,330 while at work.

The 19-year-old, who was at the time working as a bar attendant at Pulse Nightclub in Letterkenny, County Donegal in north-western Ireland, was said to have stolen the sum on December 17, 2022.

According to The Irish Sun, the attendant had afterwards attempted to hide the sum in her underwear after the theft.

Unknown to the Nigerian, the security staff on CCTV cameras had captured her while committing the crime.

During Ogbeifo’s trial on Wednesday, the court acknowledged that the accused had no prior criminal record.

The court, however, noted that a conviction would be necessary because the incident occurred while Ogbeifo was in a position of trust. It also noted that her actions violated the trust vested in her by the owner of the bar.

As a result, Ogbeifo was fined €200 for committing the crime. The court also granted her a six-month period to make pay the fine.
