Gbolahan Peters, a Lagos State resident, has narrated to FIJ how Max Air airline rescheduled his Saturday afternoon flight for 9:50 pm then announced a cancellation at midnight.
Peters told FIJ that he was returning to Lagos from Abuja on Saturday and was relying on information on his Max Air return ticket, which had a departure time of 4:45 pm. He said he got a notification at 7:44 am that the flight would be departing at 9 pm.

Peters was angry, but his anger climaxed when he arrived the airport and waited till midnight only to hear a public announcement that the flight had been cancelled.
“This Max Air people are just selling lies to innocent Nigerian travelers,” Peters told FIJ. “Online, they put a particular time, and rather than keep to time, they delay up to 8 hours.

“They initially sold me a return ticket from Lagos to Abuja and back to Lagos. My return was moved from 4:45 pm to 9 pm, but they just announced that they have cancelled the flight with no explanation about when we are going to be taken back to Lagos.

“One lady announced it over the PA system, all the officials took off, and were nowhere to be found.
“It was at about 11:25 pm they announced the cancellation. We were many; there were children there as well.”
Peters said he had to take a cab back to his hotel room at midnight and book another flight at an extra cost for him and his mother.
He said he mailed Max Air at dawn on Sunday and demanded a refund, but the company was yet to respond.
When FIJ contacted the company via one of its listed phone numbers, an agent referred our reporter to a WhatsApp contact number. However, FIJ’s message to this number was yet to be responded to at press time.
