A Twitter user who simply identified as Lucy has narrated how some officials of the Department of State Service (DSS) physically assaulted her and her neighbours at her residence in Abuja on Saturday.

In a Twitter thread, Lucy said the DSS officials broke into her house in the early hours of the day without a warrant and refused to identify themselves.

“DSS attacked my house early this morning by 2 am on August 27, 2022. They acted like criminals by banging on the gate. When asked who they were, they refused to identify or speak,” Lucy tweeted.

She said the occupants of the residence decided against opening the gate because they thought the officials were criminals.

Lucy said the agents later got into the residence in a forceful manner.

“They (DSS) broke the wall by the gate and gained entrance into the house. They marched on us with their boots, hitting us with their guns. My friend’s lips are broken and are still bleeding,” she said.

“My other friend’s ribs are very sore; she still can’t move. My next-door neighbour’s head is broken and is currently being sown in the pharmacy.”

Lucy said that the officers made them sit on the floor by 3 am after seizing their phones.

She said the operatives claimed a tracker led them to the house but refused to state the reason for their invasion.

Lucy also said that the operatives ignored the night guards in charge of security in the area, who visited the scene to find out what was going on.

The officials kept people outside till about 4 am, when one of their colleagues holding a tracker came to tell them that the device was now ”pointing in a different direction”.

“It was at this point that we found out that they were DSS from Abia State. They left the house and went in a different direction. This was after they caused all this harm to us,” Lucy said.

“They (DSS) returned our phones by 7 a.m. No apologies were rendered whatsoever. I’m heartbroken and traumatized.

“Imagine if they had shot at us with their guns as they threatened. And we were innocent. The Department of State Services (DSS) did this to us!!”

When contacted for comments, Peter Afunaya, DSS spokesperson, said the service wouldn’t respond to gossips.
