Arik Air has refunded Muhammed Muntaqa, an environmental consultant in Nasarawa State, whose money it held for a month after he requested a refund.

The refund came just three days after FIJ published a report on the company’s insistence on withholding Muntaqa’s money despite his plea for a refund.

An elated Muntaqa told FIJ the airline company refunded his N295,503 in full this morning without deducting a kobo.

“Thank you, FIJ, for helping me get my money back. Thank you,” Mustaqa said.

Mustaqa had said he paid N295,503 for his flight ticket and the tickets of two other people for a flight scheduled for 4:50 pm on February 19 but the flight was cancelled.

Following the cancellation of the flight, Muntaqa found an alternative travel means and then requested that Arik Air refund him.

He said the company told him since what happened was a case of flight cancellation, they would refund him within three days, but the promise was not fulfilled until FIJ’s intervention.
