Arik Air has refunded N149,626 to Becky Ajibola, an Abuja resident whose flight was cancelled one year ago.
The money was refunded on Thursday, September 14, after FIJ reported how the airline cancelled the flight Ajibola booked for herself and her children in 2022.
In a message she sent to FIJ on Saturday, the Abuja resident wrote, “Thanks so much. Arik has refunded the money.
“I really appreciate all of you at FIJ. Keep on doing the good work. God bless you all.”

In the initial story FIJ published on August 17, 2023, Ajibola had narrated that she booked an Abuja–Ilorin flight in August 2022 ahead of her children’s school resumption.
The family’s flight was scheduled for September 18, 2022, but Arik Air cancelled the flight on the eve of the departure date due to unspecified operational reasons.
Ajibola then contacted the airline for a refund of the ticket fees, but all she received were excuses after excuses.

From being told to exercise patience because there was a long list of customers awaiting a refund to getting failed promises regarding the status of the refund, Ajibola became tired of the excuses. She eventually reached out to FIJ.
When FIJ contacted the airline, one of its customer relations officer said the issue had been escalated and would be resolved. It was resolved one month afterwards, as confirmed by Ajibola.
