On Monday, July 17, Lagos resident Tosin Ogunlade received a refund of N121,000 from Arik Airline for a round trip that she cancelled in August 2022.
The airline had been holding on to the money for seven months when FIJ reported Ogunlade’s ordeal on June 21.
Ogunlade booked a N243,000 round-trip flight on August 15, 2022, for an interview in Abuja. The interview was, however, cancelled, and she requested that they cancel her trip and provide a refund.

In response to her request, Arik Airline wrote her, saying, “Please note that your refundable value for each passenger on the ticket is N60,668, making your refundable value the total of N121,336.
“Kindly authorise payment by filling the form attached below to enable us process your request.”
Ogunlade accepted the proposition and consented to the forfeiture. That was the last she heard of it from the airline.
On June 21, FIJ contacted Adebanji Ola, the airline’s public relations and communications manager, and she said the organisation had begun the refund process.
Three weeks after, on July 17, Ogunlade received a refund of N121,336 from Arik Airline.
