Ecobank has made a refund of £1,300 to Ademola Anjorin, a production manager resident in Ogun State.

Anjorin told FIJ he received his refund in cash on Friday.

“I have been able to withdraw the £1,300,” he told FIJ.

“The cash they were saying was unavailable became accessible with your intervention.

“You are doing a great work with your platform. You won’t know how helpful you are by rendering your voice for the common man.

“Thank you, FIJ.”

On Thursday, FIJ reported how Anjorin’s wife lost her admission to Anglia Ruskin University in the United Kingdom after Ecobank refused to release his £2,300.

“In November, when the admission came, the school asked that we make an initial deposit of £2000,” Anjorin had told FIJ.

“I approached Ecobank to withdraw the money, but they said the account I opened with them was a cash-only account and I could not perform telex on it.

“I then requested for the cash in order to find other means of meeting up with the school’s deadline, but they told me they had no cash and that I should ‘come back’.

“I couldn’t pay the initial £2000 needed to secure the admission because Ecobank kept failing to fulfil their promises. It was painful, but we had to give up the admission.”

Anjorin told FIJ that he received a call from the bank’s headquarters on Thursday after FIJ’s story went viral and he was invited to receive his cash.

“After the officials from Ecobank saw your story, they placed a call through and apologised,” he said.

“They said I was misinformed by the officials of the branch I went to and that I should pull down the story and also come to the headquarters to receive my money.”
