The Ogun State Police Command has ordered the arrest of Muhammed Seedu, a car dealer who allegedly defrauded Sokunbi Damilola of N3 million.

Damilola had been invited by the police on Wednesday, after FIJ’s initial story revealing how Seedu defrauded him and was protected by Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state’s police spokesperson.

Oyeyemi was angry he reported the case to the press. In an audio recording obtained by FIJ on Thursday, the PPRO was heard cursing Damilola and swearing to destroy his life.

Damilola managed to inform FIJ the PPRO had detained him. Insiders at Eleweran Police Station also confirmed the incident to FIJ.

The PPRO was said to be protecting Seedu, who collected N3 million from Damilola to get him a vehicle from Cotonou in 2021, but returned with neither the money nor a vehicle.

Following the story, Oyeyemi denied knowing Damilola. However, FIJ has an audio of the PPRO appealing to Damilola on Seedu’s behalf.

On Thursday, Lanre Bankole, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, invited the concerned parties and interrogated them. According to Damilola, the police boss found Seedu guilty.

“The CP said justice would be served,” Damilola told FIJ. “He asked Seedu to provide my money or risk arraignment in court.”

However, Seedu vowed to pay off in three months, but Damilola protested. “I rejected his pleas and only gave him till ending of March 2022,” he said.

Some police officers led by the IPO later followed Seedu to his residence to size up his apartment, according to Damilola.

“When they returned, they said he would be detained and that I could go home,” he said.

When contacted, Oyeyemi refused to comment.
