Nasir Idris of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the governorship election conducted in Kebbi State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Idris won the supplementary election last Saturday, bringing his total votes to 409,225, against General Aminu Bands of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s 360,940 votes, according to Saidu Yusuf, the Kebbi State INEC Returning Officer.

Governor-elect Idris made a commitment to lead an inclusive administration in his acceptance address, pledging to build on the accomplishments of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

“Let me take this opportunity to thank our throngs of followers who came out in droves to elect APC into power so that we may continue to reap the benefits of democracy,” he said.

“To those who we engaged in debate with from other parties: Kebbi is the only state we have. Therefore, you should work with us to advance the state.”
