Former students of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, have in a series of complaints, lamented the institution’s poor handling of transcript requests.
A section of the school’s alumni recently took to LinkedIn to express their dissatisfaction on the issue.
Tobiloba Kolawole, a 2011 graduate of the institution, told FIJ that he applied for his transcript in April 2021, but was made to apply again in August of the same year.
“The most annoying part is that I was made to pay a second time for the transcript I had earlier paid for in April,” he said.
He finally got his transcript in February after ‘calling out’ the school publicly.
The public complaint he made came under a LinkedIn post made by the institution to celebrate a commendation it received from the National Universities Commission (NUC) in February.
“Restructure transcript system. It takes two to four months, sometimes more, for your officers to process transcript despite paying for the service,” Kolawole commented.
The transcript he requested for in August 2021, was eventually sent to him in February.
Chioma Ibeji, another former student, said she requested for her transcript in 2021.
“I am yet to receive it till date,” she said.
She also accused the school management of not responding to her complaints despite receiving them.
Oluwakemi Ayeni, who is also a former student, spoke about all the opportunities she had lost as a result of the delay.
“A lot of good opportunities lost due to lack of swift response to transcript request even after paying so much for it,” she said.
FIJ made several calls to Femi Ogunwomoju, OOU Registrar, for comments on the issue, but he did not answer them. He had also not replied to an SMS sent to him at press time.
