Suspected bandits have set a motorist ablaze in his car in the Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Shehu Dalhatu Taofiki, the lawmaker representing Faskari constituency in the Kastina State House of Assembly, told Daily Trust on Wednesday that the attack was one of the four coordinated attacks recorded in the area within a week.
“On Tuesday, they killed seven people and abducted five,” he was quoted to have said.
Dalhatu also said a military checkpoint was just a short distance away from where the attack was carried out.
Last week, northern Nigeria youths took to the streets to protest the unending killings by armed bandits in the region. The youths, under the aegis of Concerned Northern Nigerian Groups, demanded an immediate end to the continuous loss of lives of innocent citizens to terrorism and banditry.
FIJ gathered that the protest was to call the attention of the authorities to the fact that the northern part of Nigeria was bleeding.
“We said we were tired of burying our women, children, and men,” Zainab Ahmad, one of the protesters in Kano, told FIJ. “We bury hundreds of people on a daily basis, yet there is no action, not even ‘sorry’ from our leaders.”
