27.02.2022 news Bandits Kidnap Bride While Raiding Over 10 Villages in Niger

Bandits numbering over 200 have wreaked havoc in about 13 villages in the Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State, killing and kidnapping an unknown number of people, FIJ can report.

The terrorists, according to discreet sources, rained terror around 12 pm in Ndaruka, Ebbo, Egbako, Gogata, Gbanagi, Kuba, Dabban and Mawogi on Saturday.

Other villages invaded are Tsoegi, Santali, Kanko, Yidzhuhun and Ndakotifin.

Casualty toll at press time was uncertain. However, FIJ learned that one person was killed in Ndaruka and another in Tsoegi.

“The woman killed in Ndaruku was a mother of two,” a source who asked not to be named said. “As we speak, we have not seen her children.”

The murdered woman, FIJ learned, had just arrived in the village for a wedding ceremony.

At Egbako, three ladies were kidnapped. Among them were spinsters and a lady who got married the previous day.

A source at Dabban said the bandits killed three persons along Ndawangwa house. At about 7 pm, sources said they were still in Tsoegi and Santali.

It was also gathered that many were shot at in these villages. A few of them are receiving treatment at various health facilities.

Insiders are confident that the terrorists were aided by indigenous informants. They said the attacks came at a time there were wedding and naming ceremonies in the affected villages.

Youths in Ebbo, Ndaruka and Dabban told FIJ there were no security officials on the ground to confront the terrorists.

The bandits subdued few local vigilantes in Dabban and Ndaruka before entering the villages.
