Adediran, known as Jandor, was the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), while Sanwo-Olu was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.
The appellants formulated five issues for determination by the court. Part of the issues included an allegation that Sanwo-Olu used a forged West African Examination Council-issued certificate to contest for the election.
The court decided three of the issues against Adediran and struck out the two other issues. It was resolved that the certificate forgery case was a pre-election matter and could not have been heard rightly by the court.
Led by Yargata Nimper, the court concluded that the case was unmeritorious and subsequently dismissed it.
Similarly, the appeal of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party against the tribunal judgement delivered on September 25 that affirmed Sanwo-Olu’s victory was dismissed by the same appeal court today.

Rhodes-Vivour claimed that Babafemi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu’s deputy, had renunciated his Nigerian citizenship in the UK in violation of the country’s constitution.
In the court’s view, the allegation was not supported with valid evidence and it was dismissed accordingly.
