The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Bola Tinubu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
Announcing the final result in the wee hours of Wednesday, Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of the commission, said Tinubu polled a total of 8,794,726 votes, while Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) placed second with 6,984,520 votes.
Labour Party’s Peter Obi emerged third with a total of 6,101,533 votes, with Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) NNPP placing a distant fourth with 1,496,687 votes.
Yakubu also said Tinubu scored over 25 per cent of the votes cast in 30 states, more than the constitutionally-required 25 states.
