Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi has been suspended by the Nigerian Senate for three months.
Ningi, who represents Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the Senate, was suspended on Tuesday afternoon.
Senator Adeola Olamilekan, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, Ogun State, had moved the motion for the Senate to discuss the transcribed version of Ningi’s interview with BBC Hausa.
Upon a motion moved by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, Senate President Godswill Akpabio instructed Solomon to read the lengthy interview transcription during live proceedings monitored by FIJ.
Ningi had asserted that Nigeria was running two budgets. He claimed that the budget approved by the Senate was N25 trillion and the one currently being operated was N28 trillion.
He further asserted that N3 trillion was fraudulently inserted into the operational budget.
