Estonia will fly the Ukrainian flag in front of its president’s office on Thursday as a mark of solidarity with the country amid the ongoing attack by Russian forces.
Alar Karis, the President of Estonia, said this in a tweet on Thursday, hours after Vladmir Putin, his Russian counterpart, announced a “special military operation” in Ukraine amid warnings from world leaders that it could spark the biggest war in Europe since 1945.
“‘Yet again, President Putin has chosen the path of war. We #StandWithUkraine. To honour the people of Ukraine, the Ukrainian flag will fly beside the Estonian flag in front of the Office of the President today, on our independence day,” said Karis.
Karis also condemned Moscow’s reasons for attacking Ukraine, describing them as “false, groundless and criminal”. He further stated that these reasons were only made up to justify Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine.
