As seen in a video circulating on Twitter, different buildings were engulfed in flame, darkening the sky as a result, while the fire kept spreading.

One could also hear agitated screams of residents running helter-skelter.

FIJ learned that the fire was caused by a spark from a phone held by one of the people scooping fuel from the tanker.

“After the tanker fell, people started scooping fuel, which led to the explosion. Someone held a phone nearby; this was what made the tanker explode,” said the eyewitness.
