A video showing people looting live goats from a parked trailer has been circulating on X.

On Sunday, some X users shared the video, claiming it happened recently.

OjiUgo_nwa, an X user who also shared the video at 2:48 pm, said, “They’ve started looting goats too. A whole trailer looted.”

Her video has gathered over 400 likes, 454 reposts and 242 comments. It has been seen on X 725,000 times and attracted comments from some verified accounts.

CLAIM: Nigerians looted goats under the Tinubu administration due to hunger.

VERIFICATION: FIJ found that the video originated from Delta State and was first published on the internet in 2020, during the EndSars protest. It is over four years old.

FIJ found multiple places where the video was published in October of the same year. One from Nairaland and the other two from different Facebook accounts.

FIJ also found that an X account once shared the video in June 2023.

CONCLUSION: The claim that Nigerians recently looted a trailer of goats under the Bola Tinubu administration is false, as the incident happened during the Muhammadu Buhari tenure.
