Abiola Oshodi, a pharmacist, on Friday, tweeted four pictures of Rotimi Akeredolu, the Ondo State Governor, on a beach.
Oshodi captioned the tweet with the claim that the pictures were taken on Aiyetoro Beach, Ondo State.
His tweet read, “Not Seychelles, not Mauritius, not Cape Town, not Hawaii ,not Maldives, not Tarkwa Bay, not even Oniru beach – this is Aiyetoro Beach in Ondo State, the sunshine state with the longest coastline in Nigeria. Ondo State, so rich, so blessed.”
This tweet has been seen by over 500,000 people and shared thousands of times.
When another Twitter user asked Oshodi about the pictures, he reiterated that they were taken in Ondo State.
CLAIM: Viral pictures of Akeredolu were taken on Aiyetoro Beach in Ondo State.
VERIFICATION: FIJ searched for news reports on Akeredolu’s visit to the beach.

This search returned a May 28, 2021 report of the governor visiting the La Campagne beach resort in Lekki, Lagos. Attached was one of the pictures Oshodi claimed were taken in Ondo.
According to the report, Akeredolu met Wanle Akinboboye, founder of the resort, to discuss tourism and opportunities for Ondo State.
VERDICT: The claim that the pictures of Akeredolu and Akinboboye were taken on Aiyetoro Beach is false.
