29.08.2022 Featured Fire Guts Gas Plant Near Redemption Camp

A gas plant close to the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) caught fire around 10 am on Monday morning, causing an explosion.

An official of the Redeemed Church confirmed the incident to FIJ.

“The explosion didn’t happen within the camp. It was caused by a gas station in front of the camp. It shares boundary with a police station,” he said.

In a press statement, the church said its fire service teamed up with others to bring the fire under control.

“This incident which has been brought under control by the combined efforts of the RCCG Fire Service and Lagos Fire Service occurred inside Axella Gas depot on the Sagamu bound traffic in between the Car Park C gate and the main gate of the Redemption City,” the statement reads.

“Against the news making the round, the incident was completely outside of the Redemption City and our fire service team only responded as part of our community service support to our neighbours within the environ.”
