Wasiu Adekola, a 35-year-old resident of Nassarawa, who specialises in the production and sales of public and private documents, has been arrested by the police.

In a statement released on Saturday, DSP Josephine Adeh, public relations officer of the FCT police command, stated that several counterfeit documents, including fake vehicle registration booklets and four computer scanners, were found in his possession.

The command also stated that Adekola was arrested following the discovery of a fake vehicle document in a random stop-and-search operation.

“The operatives of the Kubwa Divisional Police Headquarters on October 18, 2022, arrested one Wasiu Adekola, a 35 year-old male resident of Maraba, Nasarawa State, who specialises in the production of all kinds of counterfeit public and private documents,” the statement read in part.

“The arrest was made following a discrete investigation stemming from the discovery of a fake motor vehicle document in the possession of a road user while police officers attached to the division were on a stop-and-search operation about a month ago.”

The police said Adekola was arrested with four computer scanners which aided the business, copies of fake Nassarawa State private vehicle licenses, fake FCT fire service certificates, and fake registration vehicle booklets, among others.

“Upon arrest, the suspect was found in possession of several counterfeit documents and equipment used in perpetrating this criminal venture, including 4 computer scanners, 15 pieces of counterfeit Nassarawa State private vehicle license, 6 counterfeit FCT Fire service certificates, 12 counterfeit vehicle registration booklets, motorcycle registration number plate: KUJ 651 QL, counterfeit receipt booklet of the National Co-Operative Insurance Society of Nigeria and 78 pieces of counterfeit National Certificate of Road Worthiness, amongst others,” said the police.
