Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court, Lagos State, has granted a ₦20 million bail to Godwin Emefiele, embattled former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor.
On Tuesday morning, Oweibo rejected the Federal Government’s claim that it was yet to receive a copy of Emefiele’s bail application in his gun possession trial.
He said there was substantial evidence to prove that the suspended CBN governor’s lawyers, led by Joseph Daudu (SAN), served the government.

Daudu prayed the court to hear Emefiele’s application seeking bail on self-recognition, and said he had fulfilled all necessary conditions for the application to be heard.
He sought the court’s help with what he described as “oppression of my client by the Department of State Security”.
“There should be an end to oppression,” he said.
