The Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed the arrest of Godwin Emefiele, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor.
Hours after saying Emefiele was not in their custody, Peter Afunanya, DSS Public Relations Officer, issued a statement on Saturday confirming his arrest.
The statement, seen by FIJ, was titled ‘EMEFIELE, NOW IN DSS CUSTODY’.

It read, “The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now in its custody for some investigative reasons.
“The public, particularly the Media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this.”
Earlier, President Bola Tinubu suspended Emefiele, and pledged to probe him.
Several media outlets claimed the DSS arrested the CBN Governor on Friday night, but the DSS denied this on Saturday morning.
