Timipre Sylva, a former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary governorship elections in Bayelsa State.
Sylva resigned from his position as minister in March to run for governor of Bayelsa State under the APC.

The former minister, who is also a former governor of the state, led with a whopping 52,061 votes, defeating David Lyon, the 2019 APC card carrier, Joshua Maciver and Dumebi Sunday Festus.
Sylva qualifies for another four-year constitutional run, and would be contesting against Douye Diri, the incumbent Governor of Bayelsa State and flag bearer of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
