20.08.2022 Featured Man Kills His Two Children With Stones and Sticks in Adamawa

Elisha Tari, a 25-year-old man, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly killing his two children with stones and sticks.

According to a statement by Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, Tari was apprehended on Thursday after he murdered his children in Himikidu community, Michika Local Government Area of the state.

“The suspect, Elisha Tari, was said to have killed the victims with stones and sticks which he had used in hitting them on their heads severally,” Nguroje stated.

“The incident was reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Michika, by the grandfather of the victims.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the victims’ mother got separated from the suspect two months ago after they had a misunderstanding.”

The police explained that Tari was arrested while trying to escape.

“The suspect was arrested while trying to escape to Cameroon Republic, and is currently in Police custody undergoing interrogation to ascertain the reason behind the murder of his own biological children,” Nguroje stated.

Sikiru Kayode Akande, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, directed the deputy commissioner of police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the state to investigate the incident and ensure the prosecution of the suspect to serve as a deterrent to others.

Akande equally called on members of the public to always report to the police all acts of criminality within their locality.
