The Lagos State Sexual Offences & Domestic Violence Court has sentenced one Kehinde Gabriel to life imprisonment for defiling a 3-year- old girl.

Gabriel’s name will equally be registered in the Sexual Offenders Register of the state.

According to a Twitter post by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (Lagos DSVA) on Tuesday, Justice R.A. Oshodi of the Sexual Offences Court sentenced Gabriel on April 17, 2023.

In the case with number ID/8392C/2018, the prosecution levied a one-count charge of defilement against Gabriel.

“Prosecution called three (3) witnesses in proof of its case against the Defendant to wit: Victim, Dr. Alagbe and Inspr. Olakunle Orebe of Gender Section. Most importantly, the Prosecution proved the ingredients of the offence of Defilement against the Defendant,” the agency stated.

“The Court stated that the Defendant is a person of no truth and he is of no remorse at all. The Court stated that this act is unjustifiable and he will receive the maximum punishment of the offence.”

Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, provides that any person who has sexual intercourse with a child (under 18 years) commits a felony and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for life.

Having being found guilty of the offence levied against him, Gabriel was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
