An anonymous woman based in Abuja has accused Moses Onoja, the Chief Executive Officer of Sun Energy Community Development Initiative (SECODI) of refusing to return her and her brother’s capital.

According to the woman, she and her brother have made multiple attempts to retrieve their money from Onoja but have been met with evasive responses.

The woman explained that her initial dealings with Onoja and SECODI between February 2021 and February 2022 were smooth. So they trusted him.

Following the expiration of their first investment package in February 2022, the woman reinvested N1 million, while her brother invested N500,000 with SECODI.

As per their agreement, SECODI was supposed to pay the woman N25,000 monthly for 12 months, and her brother N12,500.

“Between February 2022 and January 2023, my brother and I received our monthly payments without any issues. In December, we informed the CEO that we would not be renewing our investment plan upon its expiration, and he agreed,” the woman told FIJ.

However, in the first week of February 2023, when they were expecting their final monthly payment, they received nothing.

She also said she assumed both the last monthly payment and their capital would be returned simultaneously. To date, CEO Onoja has failed to pay either her or her brother.

“I started calling Onoja to inquire about my money, but he refused to answer my calls. Eventually, he blocked my number after I persistently tried to reach him. In April, I called him from a different phone, and he gave me excuses about being busy,” she revealed.

“We have been engaged in numerous back-and-forth conversations since April. At one point, he even sent me a fake credit alert message on WhatsApp, but I realised it was false because the figures didn’t match.”

The woman believes that SECODI’s actions are not only unethical but could be a violation of consumer protection laws and regulations. She feels that it is unfair for the CEO to refuse to refund their capital.

FIJ contacted Onoja via his line but he did not take his calls. He had also not responded to a text sent to his phone at press time.
