A horrific image of the mutilated hand of Serhiy Sova, a fallen Ukrainian senior soldier, has surfaced online.

In the photograph shared by Ukraine’s ministry of defence on Saturday, bracelets could be seen on Sova’s mutilated hand.

”The photo of his mutilated hand with a Ukrainian bracelet found at the mass burial site in Izyum became a tragic symbol of Russian atrocities in Kharkiv region,” the ministry tweeted.

The ministry also revealed that Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, had given the fallen senior soldier a posthumous award as the Hero of Ukraine.

Serhiy Sova’s body appears to be one of the hundreds exhumed from a mass grave near the city of Izyum after Vladimir Putin’s troops were routed by Ukrainian soldiers.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, the Russian torture victims had been mutilated so badly it was impossible to determine whether or not they were men or women.

According to Serhiy Panteleev, the major investigative department of the National Police of Ukraine, among the dead were 202 women, 189 men, five children and 11 bodies so mutilated that the police could not determine their sex.

“Most of them have signs of violent death, and 30 have signs of torture. There are bodies with rope around their necks, with their hands tied, with broken limbs and gunshot wounds,” he said.

“Several men have had their genitals amputated. All this is evidence of the terrible torture to which the invaders subjected the inhabitants of Izyum.”

Horrific fresh evidence of Russian war crimes is emerging from newly liberated cities in Ukraine.
