An Abuja resident with Twitter handle @iam_miraykul has described a near-death experience he had in the Lugbe area of the Federal Capital Territory.
The tweep said that he encountered the men numbering about 100 while driving to the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport on Monday to pick someone.
He also explained that the young men had cutlasses in the hands and were butchering an unnamed man when he got to Lugbe. They attempted to stop him, but he drove away.

According to him, the experience was still fresh in his mind up to the moment he was relaying the encounter via his Twitter page on Tuesday. While he escaped unarmed, the attacking group damaged his vehicle.

“The shock still hurting my brain after God saved me from death yesterday… I was driving to the airport to pick someone, just after Dunamis (Glory Dome), Lugbe. About 100 boys with cutlass[es] and heavy sticks on the service lane butchering one man before me, they stopped me but I swayed my way out. They ended up destroying my windscreen, side mirror and bumper,” he said.
“Please, @PoliceNG, should look into this matter because our safety is being denied at this moment. News came to the filling station where others were complaining about same boys killing their neighbors few weeks ago. My life flashed before me. Please retweet for our safety.”
Under his tweets, some people’s comments suggested the man’s experience was common in the area.
“I can corroborate your story, brother, as I also passed while they were crossing the express. They attempted same with me but they couldn’t stop me because of the speed I was driving on. I saw them, and there were many of them holding cutlasses and sticks. Sorry for the experience,” @dabravest commented.

“That airport road has always been a dangerous route. I had a terrible experience I won’t wish for my enemy, but thank God I can walk again. It’s terrible at night,” @daddysugar2023, another tweep, commented.
