Agents of the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have been accused of shooting indiscriminately in public spaces and killing five people while raiding a drug den around Patey, Lagos island, on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses posted images and one gory video of a gunshot victim on the day of the raid. Numerous videos of NDLEA officers shooting at different areas have also been made public.
However, the agency denied the allegations in an official statement released on Sunday, claiming it only arrested seven drug dealers and recovered 5,862 kilograms of assorted drugs after raiding the area.

The usual rule of engagement for drug enforcement is to apprehend drug criminals with as little conflict as possible.
Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s media chief, did not answer FIJ’s calls. A message sent to his phone has also not been responded to.
