Subair Enitan, a 21-year-old student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), is attempting to set the Guinness World Record (GRW) for the longest time hand-washing clothes.
Enitan, who is a 200-level student of linguistics and African language at OAU, kicked off a 50-hour washing marathon on Friday in an attempt to set a record.

When FIJ searched though the official website of the GRW multiple times with different keywords, the results showed records such as “Most people washing their hands simultaneously”, “Largest online video album of people washing their hands”, “Most people hand-washing fabric simultaneously”, “Most nationalities washing their hands simultaneously”, “Longest chain of washing” and “Longest washing line of socks”, among others.
None of the search results seen by our reporter showed that Enitan’s prospective record has ever been set.

Meanwhile, the OAU student’s washing marathon is themed ‘OAU Wash-A-Thon by Subair Enitan’, and she is expected to complete it by Sunday, November 26, 2023.
As seen in a post on the Instagram page of the OAU wash-a-thon, Enitan had passed 20 hours when FIJ checked on Saturday morning.
Enitan is an indigene of Ijebu-Igbo in Ogun State. She is also the founder of Triple E, a brand that offers laundry services.
