The chef first announced her intention to break the world record on June 22, a few weeks after Damilola Adeparusi, an Ekiti-based chef, completed her 120-hour cooking.

Hilda Baci, a Lagos State-based chef, caught the attention of Nigerians when she began and completed a 100-hour marathon in May, and before she was confirmed as the new Guinness World Record (GWR) holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, Dammy had begun hers.
