Yussuf Ahmed, a human resources (HR) professional, has shared how Overland Airways abruptly cancelled his flight in May and has failed to refund his N202,000 ticket fee since then.
FIJ learned that Ahmed booked a round trip on May 4. He was scheduled to depart from Lagos State to Ilorin, Kwara State, on May 6 and return to Lagos on May 8.
However, on the morning of the departure date, Overland Airways sent him an email to notify him that his flight had been cancelled for operational reasons.

Because of the cancelled flight, FIJ gathered, Ahmed opted for an alternative means of transport so he could travel on that fateful day in May.
On that same day, he made a refund request, after which the airline sent him a form to be completed. He sent back the filled-out refund form on May 9, and the airline acknowledged it the following day with a note that it was being processed.
Ever since he submitted the refund form, Overland Airways has failed to return his N202,000, as the airline has kept reneging on its promise to process the refund.

“They keep saying it is in process, but there has not been feedback. And no refund was made to the bank account details I provided,” said Ahmed.
“I sent emails on June 6 and 7 to request an update regarding the refund, but no response was got until June 10, when they responded, saying that the refund was still in process. This is after 30 days of making the refund request. In response to the direct message I sent to their page on X (Twitter), they maintained that my refund was in process and they would expedite it.”
