The Lagos State Police Command on Friday arraigned rapper Panshak Zamani, popularly known as Ice Prince, before a magistrate.

Benjamin Hundeyin, Public Relations Officer of the command, confirmed to FIJ that Zamani was charged for assault, obstruction and abduction a police officer.

FIJ earlier reported that Zamani was arrested at 3 am on Friday for driving without a licence and then assaulting the officer who held him for the offence.

In a tweet made by Hundeyin via his Twitter handle, @BenHundeyin, he explained that after the unnamed officer stopped Zamani and entered his vehicle for them to proceed to a police station, Zamani drove the officer to a river and threatened to throw him in.

Several members of the public reacted to this statement and asked for video evidence.

Hundeyin, in another tweet made earlier, said video evidence was available and had been presented to an associate of the rapper.

His tweet read, “For those asking for video evidence, yes we have it. And no, we won’t release it. A very close ally of his has seen it. It will be presented to the presiding magistrate as part of our evidence.”

He said the rapper had been detained in the Ikoyi correctional facility in Lagos.
