Policemen attached to the Sagamu Road Police Station in Ikorodu, Lagos State, have arrested ‘Alfa Ibadan’, a Muslim cleric at Oriwu Central Mosque Ikorodu who was exposed by FIJ for his fraudulent practices.
Olasunboye Oyetunde, an inspector attached to the station, told FIJ on Friday that the cleric was arrested on October 26, hours after FIJ’s report was published.
He said the station’s DPO notified him of the story, and he then invited Alfa Ibadan for interrogation on the same day.

“The alfa has been arrested since that day. Alfa was with us, and he is now on bail,” Oyetunde said.
He then asked that ‘Fisayo Soyombo, FIJ’s Founder/Editor-in-Chief who went undercover to expose extortion at religious institutions, to present himself physically at the station to help the police build its case.
“He was the one that wrote article [sic], and the article got to the table of the Commissioner of Police (CP); the CP directed Area Commander who then directed the DPO to investigate the case,” Oyetunde said.
“We read the details and acted promptly. If he is culpable, we are going to prosecute the case.”
He also said Alfa Ibadan was released to a surety on bail, but told FIJ he would be present at the station whenever Soyombo was present.
FIJ had revealed how Alfa Ibadan fed false prophecies and visions to a disguised Soyombo in March 2022 in a bid to extort over N200,000 from him.
