X users have said Oluwaseyifunmi Oladapo, an abducted shepherd of a Celestial Church parish in the Mowe area of Ogun State, has not been reunited with his family.

This is in response to the Ogun State Police Command’s short statement on Saturday, claiming Oladapo had been rescued.

“We are pleased to inform members of the public that one Oladapo Oluwaseyifunmi, shepherd of the Celestial Church kidnapped, has been rescued through the relentless combing of the forest by policemen, hunters, VGN and Amotekun. He has been reunited with his family,” the statement read.

However, Nigerians say that the kidnappers still want N4 million ransom money.

“Kidnappers called the family that Prophet Seyi [had] escaped since 2 am. Up to date, none of his family has seen him, and he has never called anyone. Nobody knows his whereabouts. Abiola is still in custody with kidnappers. You are posting false information,” said Victor Olaore Omoshehin, an X user.

Another user wrote: “The kidnappers are calling, and they are asking for N4 million to release ABIOLA OLUBOBOYE. The shepherd escaped, but the assistant is still in their custody.”

The police and church members confirmed that unidentified gunmen invaded the parish located in Oriyarin Village in Mowe and whisked Oladapo and Abiola Oluboboye during a Maundy Thursday service.

Ogun Police initially referred to the incident as a suspected kidnapping.

The police have provided no pictures to show a free Oladapo. They have said nothing about Oluboboye, who is still missing as of press time.
