A Twitter user simply identified as King has narrated how he and his friend were extorted and harassed by four officers of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) along Owo-Akungba express road in Ondo State.

In a series of tweets, King explained that he and his friend were travelling to Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, from their school, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, on Monday, when their car was stopped.

“We were stopped and asked for our particulars. After we were thoroughly searched with no incriminating evidence, they extorted, verbally assaulted and delayed us for over two hours,” he wrote.

“They threatened to shoot us, kill us and dump our corpses in the bush because we were alone around the bush.”

In one of the videos he posted, one of the officers was seen collecting some money from one of the boys. The officer counted it before folding it into one of his palms.

King had asked to make a transfer but they refused the offer, asking him to use a Point of Sales (POS) machine instead.

“They knew their information will be available for me to take actions. They asked me to take a bike to the next community and use a POS, which I did out of threat,” King said.

In another video, two of the officers were seen smoking what was suspected to be marijuana.

When FIJ contacted Funmilayo Odunlami, the Ondo State Police Police Relations Officer (PPRO), a man answered the phone and asked that a text be sent. The text had not been responded to at press time.
