Ravil Maganov, a Russian oil tycoon and chairman of Lukoil, one of Russia’s biggest oil firms, died after falling from a sixth floor window of a hospital in Moscow on Thursday morning.
While announcing his death however, Lukoil claimed Maganov “passed away following a severe illness”.
Shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine, the Lukoil board, headed by Maganov, had asked that the conflict end as soon as possible, expressing its sympathy to victims of the war.

According to the BBC, Maganov died from the injuries he suffered from the fall.
Maganov now joins the list of Russian oligarchs in the country’s energy sector that recently died under mysterious circumstances.
In April, the body of Sergei Protosenya, a millionaire and former manager of Novatek, the largest natural gas producer in Russia, was found dead alongside his wife and daughter at a Spanish villa.

Also in April, Vladislav Avayev, a former vice-president of Gazprombank, was found dead with his wife and daughter in their Moscow flat.
In May, Alexander Subbotin, a former Lukoil official, died of heart failure, reportedly after seeking alternative treatment from a shaman.
Maganov began working for Lukoil in 1993 and took over as chairman in 2019.
