23.09.2023 Featured Times Lagos’ Ilupeju Industrial Estate Experienced Fire Incidents

Ilepeju Industrial Estate, a part of Lagos State that is home to quite a number of manufacturing companies and warehouses, have always been in the spotlight for fire accidents.

Records show that these accidents have resulted in the loss of properties worth billions of naira.

Between 2017 and now, some of the companies that have had sad tales to tell about fire incidents within the industrial estate include Peacegate Warehouse, Rida National Plastics Limited and Mega Plastics Company.

Here is a highlight of these three incidents.

FEBRUARY 2017

On February 19, 2017, there was a fire incident at Rida National Plastics Limited, one of the plastic manufacturing companies in the estate.

The sections of the company affected were a recycling section and three storage facilities.

It took a while before the fire could be put out.

NOVEMBER 2018

On November 25, 2018, a warehouse belonging to Peacegate, an energy distribution and support services company, got razed by fire.

Prior to the fire outbreak, the affected warehouse had served as a storage facility for four different companies. The companies include Kenvee Nigeria Limited, Taana Limited, Pramansons Global Company Limited and Mashabros & Sons Limited.

The consequence of the accident was a shared loss running into millions of naira on the part of the companies. No human casualty was recorded in the incident.

SEPTEMBER 2023

On Saturday morning, Mega Plastics Company, another plastic manufacturing company situated in the estate, was razed by fire.

The company’s storage and factory sections were seriously affected by the fire outbreak.

No injuries or deaths were recorded in the incident.
