Rofeeha Agboluaje, an elder sister of Fadlullah Agboluaje, the Nigerian student who died mysteriously a day after arriving at the Lviv Polytechnic National University in Lviv, Ukraine, has said the school’s authorities are still mute, 20 days after her brother’s death.

In a phone conversation with FIJ, Rofeeha said the university’s management had not communicated with the family since Fadlullah’s death.

“They have not replied to our mail since then. Even the two people helping us with the case have got no response till now,” she said.

However, she was hopeful her family would know the truth regarding her brother’s death because of Abike Dabiri, Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission’s intervention.

On Wednesday, FIJ reported that Lviv Polytechnic National University concealed the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of Fadlullah.

In a petition titled “Tell Us the Truth About the Death of My 19-year-old Son in Ukraine. A Helpless Mother’s Cry” on Change.org, Agboluaje’s sister said her brother was in good health when he left Nigeria for college on January 8 and arrived on January 9, 2022.

The following day, Rofeeha said, her family learned that Fadlullah had died mysteriously, despite taking all the required medical tests before leaving.

Because of the unusual silence from the college’s liaison officer, the family suspected something could have gone wrong. Rofeeha said the family called Fadlullah tirelessly the following morning, but he did not pick up. They also called the liaison officer, who did not answer his calls on time.

“He (liaison officer) stopped picking up his calls later that evening and then gave a student in that accommodation facility the phone to break the news that my brother was found dead on the floor of his room,” she said.

FIJ’s email to the university has not been replied to since Wednesday.
