28.04.2022 Featured Unknown Assailants Attack Nigerian Driver in South Africa

David Onuchukwu, a Nigerian who works as a driver in South Africa, has narrated how he was attacked by unknown persons in Cape Town, South Africa in March.

According to Nigerians In South Africa, the 41-year-old father of one was attacked by the assailants, who he said were already waiting for him in his house, on his return from work.

“Immediately I opened my gate, they came and asked me to go inside. They robbed me of my valuables and shot me. The bullet penetrated through my right hand to my stomach,” said Onuchukwu.

The Nigerian was immediately taken to a hospital in Cape Town and discharged after some weeks.

The driver was said to have lost his car to hijackers in a separate incident in October 2021. He was however able to recover it through the help of South African security agencies. 

According to a 2020 report by the Mexican Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice, Cape Town ranks the eight most violent city in the world. In 2020 alone, the city recorded 3,065 cases of homicide.
