Benjamin Oladele (not real name), an Air Peace customer, and some other booked commuters have been left stranded at Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Imo State because of ongoing ticket racketeering, FIJ can report.

Oladele was supposed to fly from Owerri in Imo to Lagos on Sunday afternoon.

“My flight was scheduled for 12:20 pm today, Sunday, 7th of April, 2024, going from Owerri to Lagos,” Oladele said.

“I arrived at the airport an hour before the flight time to check in but found out that Air Peace officials had closed the counter, which was unusual.

“After making findings, it was gathered that this was done because the United Airline and Dana Air canceled their morning flights to Lagos. Thus, Air Peace took advantage of the situation and sold their tickets to passengers of the affected airlines at a higher bidding (price), at the expense of their already existing passengers.

“How could Air Peace decide to sell off the seats of their passengers who had been booked for this flight right about the time of the flight just to make extra cool cash?

“The original Air Peace passengers are stranded at the airport as we speak! This is very unfair and serious corruption at its peak.”

FIJ called Air Peace but the phone number available was inoperable.

The airline was yet to provide a response to our text inquiry at press time.
