Kolade Princess Damilola, a Kogi State-based health official, has accused some officers at the Kogi State Police Command of planning to conceal a case of domestic violence and brutality perpetrated against her mother.

The health official took to Twitter on Tuesday to reveal how her father, whose name she did not mention, had been physically assaulting her mother.

“I’ve hidden this for long, but I can’t anymore; I’m so tired of living in my home because of the abuse and violence that goes on. I live with fear in my house. I have to speak up before my mum ends up like Osinachi. I can’t let my mum die at her age of just 43,” Damilola wrote.

“Monday 17th of October, 2022, between 9 pm and 11 pm my mum was almost killed by a man she calls her husband. I recorded some of the videos while the beating, shouting and wailing was going on, he noticed I was recording and slapped me.”

Damilola described her father has a serial abuser who gets away with many instances of domestic violence because no one in her family could challenge him.

She also said he is a successful pharmacist who serves as the family breadwinner.

The health official is also worried about the mental health of her siblings.

“My siblings cry whenever this happens, so many times I get report of them either chased out or beaten till they get wounds and scars. I need help, please! Housing, food, job and everything… I don’t want my mum to die or my immediate brother (sic) to commit suicide, I see him sad Everytime. My mum cries Everytime,” she wrote.

From the videos that Damilola posted, her father was hitting her mother while she was lying on a matress.

The abuse was carried out in the presence of some children believed to be Damilola’s siblings.

Damilola also stated that officers of the Kogi State Police Command were planning to “sweep the matter under the carpet”.

“Please I don’t want this matter to die like that. I can’t go back. He will beat me, seize my phone. We really need help,” Damilola tweeted on Tuesday.
