Shamsudeen Oluwo, a Lagos land owner, has narrated how policemen joined Saheed Mosadoluwa, a Lagos property agent who owns Harmony Garden and Estate Development Limited, to brutalise and strip him naked on July 8.
In a video shared on social media and reposted by Babatunde Gbadamosi, a former Lagos gubernatorial candidate, Oluwo can be seen bruised and pleading with Mosadoluwa whom he refers to as ‘Ibile’.
Some policemen can be seen in the video forcing other men to lay on top of each other in one heap. An unidentified man then pulls Oluwo’s shorts off him, and pulls his underwear until he is stark naked.
The men and policemen then hit the victims. A policewoman stands over the stack of men, and yells orders to them.

In another video made after the incident, Oluwo fingers Mosadoluwa as the person behind the assault on him. He said Mosadoluwa’s intention was to kill him, and the police detained him for three weeks when they could not kill him.
Addressing Nigerians, Oluwo said, “Good day, Nigeria. My name is Shamsudeen Oluwo. I have a serious issue that I want the Nigerian people to help me [sic].
“On July 8, 2023, I was working on my site at Epe area. I started work around 10 am, [but] by after 10, I saw some people coming to the site. I saw Saheed Ibile with many policemen, many cultists with gun, cutlass and matches and jazz.
“They started shooting stray bullets. Some people ran away, some people, bullet met them and they ran away with the bullets but I couldn’t wait for bullet to touch me so I lay down there with my boys.
“They came there, beat us and took us to police station in Lagos. I spent a week there, then from Lagos, they took me to Abuja, I spent two weeks there without doing anything. Now I can’t go outside to do anything.”
Oluwo said his life is now in danger as people regularly attack and hit him when they see him in public.
Reacting to the videos on Wednesday, Muyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) tweeted, “Lagos State CP is on this matter. We will do the needful, and justice will be seen to have been done. I am sure Lagos State Command will update us as and when due. Thanks.”

FIJ has earlier reported on how Mosadoluwa and Johnson Kokumo, a deputy inspector general of police, connived to harass one Adeyinka Igbinoba, a Lagos-based businesswoman, on her sickbed.
Igbinoba told FIJ how Mosadoluwa used the police to intimidate her because of a N30 million land purchase dispute she had with him.
Mosadoluwa has been said to be a notorious land disputant often resorting to violence. Igbinoba told FIJ that Mosadoluwa broke her ankle and assaulted her brother-in-law at his office.
FIJ later obtained pictures and videos of Igbinoba’s smashed ankle as she was about to undergo an urgent surgery on November 21, 2021.
They are currently locked in a legal dispute that has stretched for about a year.
