Rebecca Ikumelo, a British resident, has died after getting hurt in a concert held by Ahmed Ololade, a popular Nigerian Afropop star known as Asake.
According to BBC News, Ikumelo, 33, died on Saturday following injuries she sustained on Thursday while a large number of people tried to force their way into London’s Brixton 02 Academy, where the concert was being held.
The concert, which also left several other people injured, had to be abandoned halfway after some of Asake’s fans tried to force their way into the auditorium which already contained about 4000 people.

Asake, reacting to Ikumelo’s death, apologised for the security breakdown but also vowed to get to the root of the stampede.
“I am devastated by the news that Rebecca Ikumelo who was in a critical condition since Thursday has sadly passed away [sic],” he wrote.
“My team and I are still awaiting the full debrief back from the venue management and the police to determine what exactly led to all the disruption caused and ultimately to Rebecca’s passing.”
Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, said investigations were ongoing to ascertain the cause of the stampede and measures to ensure the action was not repeated were also being put in place.
“My thoughts remain with everyone affected by this dreadful incident. Itβs vital that the investigation into what happened concludes as soon as possible. City Hall are in contact with venues and authorities across London to ensure nothing like this happens again,” he said.
