YouTube has agreed to pay Oluchi Enaworu, a content creator on the video sharing platform, after withholding her December earnings.

Enaworu had complained to FIJ about the platform’s refusal to pay her despite placing adverts on her videos, prompting a report on Thursday, March 3.

Her YouTube account had originally been approved for monetization in December, and YouTube began placing adverts on her videos. By the end of December, she had earned a total of $245.93, equivalent to N102,274.91. She expected to be paid in January. However, she did not get any payment.

Speaking with FIJ on Sunday, Enaworu said YouTube sent her an email on Saturday to notify her that the case had been reviewed and she would be paid.

“On March 2, I received a pushback email from another YouTube staffer notifying me that they wouldn’t pay me for the same reason. I stopped responding to them but kept on using their platform,” she told FIJ.
